ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A sad fatality occurred at Cambridge on January 20, when Miss Amy Taylor, a lady very well known in Auckland, was drowned while getting water in a kettle on the bank of the Waikato river. Miss Taylor had lived with the family of the Rev. W. E. Gillam for the past IS years, and was an enthusiastic worker in St. Matthew's Church and Sundayschool.
A boy named Eric Hooton, who was camping with his school teacher iat Pouto, Kaipara Heads, was drowned while bathing on January 9.
The dead body of Mr Matthew Henderson, a well-known architect, of Auckland, was found at Pine Island. He had been missing January 6, when he went with his son to visit some property at Greenhithe. He slept in the boat, and his son, who slept ashore, discovered in the morning that the boat and its occupant were missing. The fatality was the subject of a rather lengthy inquiry, resulting in a verdict of "Found drowned," with a rider reproving the son for allowing his father to remain alone in the boat, and callousness as to his fate.
