JUNIOR NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS.
SUCCESSFUL AUCKLAND CANDIDATES. At the meeting of the Education Board this morning the secretary (Mr Y. E. Rice) reported that the following live Auckland candidates, who it happened were the tirst five on the list. had qualified for junior national ! scholarships —John Caradiis, Beresfordi street: Alfred B. Jameson, Clevedon: Ernest R. Burton. Newton East; Arthur \V. Dempsy. Remui-ra, and Basil P. Cahill, Kaikohp- Ninety-eight candidates had qualified for free places in secondary schools. The Board decided to award the scholarships in acordauce with the secretary's report. With regard to th* candidates who had qualified for free places, the secretary said that the course to be followed was to notify the school eomin'.tees of such. It (hen rested with the parents to make application to the secondary schools for admission for their children. This course was adopted.
