ROTORUA TOURISTS.
■ ■ (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. There is every prospect of the speedy recovery of the Rotorua district "from the effects of recent bad weather. The number of tourists is daily increasing. The two round trips and"all other trips are being satisfactorily supported- The accommodation house at Waimangu is doing big business, and visitors appear surprised to find there the comforts of a real good hotel. Mr Allen, the manager, informs mc that the Government will shortly build extensive addition? to the house,' besides the hot bathroom now nearly completed close to the so-called Devil's Frying-pan. Mr Andrews, the Government ""agent, expresses surprise at the few visitors to Sulphur Point on Lake Rotorua. and to the thermal reserve near the old town. Thp diningcar on the Auckland express is being larsely supported, the average number of diners served being some 50. in addition to teas and light refreshments. Among further improvements suggested as likely and advantageous is Hie opening of "a branch tourist office in Sydney. An official, well able to judge. states" that an increasing number of Australian tourists would justify this step, and make it a paying investment.
