CLOSE OF THE SESSION. •A. motion for adjournment of the House was carried by 17 to 14. Sir Joseph Ward on behalf of the House paid a tribute- to Messrs Guinness and Millar for the manner in which they had carried out their respective duties and Mr Buchanan on behalf of the Leader of the Opposition spoke in a similar' strain. Mr Guinness suitably acknowledged the compliment and Sir William .Steward returned thanks on behalf of Mr Millar. The session finally closed at !).") a.m. THE SESSION'S BUSINESS. The schedule of business transacted during the present session shows that 24 Select Committees wore set up, and that 253 public bills were introduced, of which 137 received Royal assent./ two were reserved for Royal assent, and 114 were dropped or otherwise disposed of.
