STews has been received that a French ' fcolumn was engaged in a fierce fight at ■ Biraldi, in the French Soudan. Iho force retreated after the captain and six riflemen had been killed and 28 wounded. 'Three hundred Touregs were killed and i It is reported that the Sultan ox Kanem.was among the killed.
