NEWTON CONGREGATIONAL.
The Rev. Mr. Woollas, preaching at the Newton Congregational Church last evening, took for his text, "Remember the Sabbath Day to Keep it Holy" He argued that the Christian Sabbath should be consecrated for religious service, for rest and worsliip. The truest rest was that which best fitted a man for the work of the week. They should not forget that in the commandment they were not only enjoined to rest on the Sabbath, but also to work on the other six days. If they used the Sabbath for other than rest and worship they practically repudiated God's claim to their life and ownership of them. The Sunday trams were not a necessity, but a mere matter of greed for dividends, at the expense of the rights and liberties of citizens. He considered that the people living on the line of the tram service, who had to bear the incessant noise for six days, had some right for sympathy to* secure them a rest from it on the Sabbath.
