The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that the small surplus was miiinly duo to tiic extensive shrinkage of totalisator receipts, which showed a falling off of £0822 when compared with last season's transactions. The expenses had been cut down by £144. Referring to the proposed extension of the course, the chairman haul that although negotiations had. so far. brought about no satisfactory settlement of the question, lie hoped that arrangements might yet be made enabling the club to have a racecourse one mile in circumference. A discussion followed, several members urging a reduction of working expenses, advertising, etc. Mr Armitage pointed out that there had been a considerable shrinkage in the nominations received since the advertisements were cut down, and thought that any further "saving" this way would probably result in a loss. The chairman said that a hint might be taken from the remarks passed, and that the committee should thoroughly overhaul the wnys and means. The election of the committee was next proceeded with, and, there being no opposition, the retiring members. Messrs Ford. R. S. Reynolds, and W. D. Tlolgate, were unanimously re-elected. The meeting then terminated with a hearty vote of thsniks to the chairman and the outgoing officers.
