TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL.
The Auckland Trades und Labour Council last evening received a letter from Mr H. Ferguson, Inspector of Factories, thanking the Council for.their kindly dei'enee of the local labour office and the assistance they always rendered him.—ln regard to an invitation to take part in the Labour Da/ festivities on October 14th, it was decided that as the members individually would be associated with their own unions in the proceedings, the Council could not make a special feature, but would give the event every encouragement.—Donations for the Victorian Railway Union were received from the Grocers' Union, £2 2/; Ironmo'ulders' Union, £5; and Plumbers' Union, £3. —Messrs Phillips, Fawcus, Kneen, and Irwin were appointed to assist Mr Aggers' candidature at the approaching municipal election. —The Council passed a resolution congratulating Mr McDonald, of the Federal Parliament, and the Melbourne Labour party oh the passage of the amendment to include railway servants in the scope of the Arbitration Bill, thus preventing a recurrence of strikes. —It was decided to thank the.Premier for introducing the State Fire Insurance Bill.
