The retirement on a pension is announced of Lieut.-Colonel Kalph Egerton. This gallant officer won his commission for braveiy in South Africa in 1879-81, when he saved the colours of the 94th regiment and tramped 40 miles to Pretoria with the colours tied round Jiis waist.
