The monthly meeting of the Mount Albert Road Board was held on Monday evening, '■when there were present Messrs V. F. Kerr-Taylor (chairman), F. Ellisden, M. J. Coyle. M. McLean and W. Winstone. A special order declaring the weeds enumerated in the second schedule of the Noxious Weeds Act (including ijorse) to be noxious weedy within the jurisdiction of the board was confirmed. The tender of Messrs E. Porter and Co., £7790, for the necessary mains, pipes and fittings for the water supply reticulation and services, was accepted, all pipes, et*c, to be of British manufacture. Mr Metcalfe'a estimate for the work of thoroughly forming the main road throughout its' entire length and metalling it. also for the provision of footpaths where none now exist, was received and approved, and it was resolved that steps be taken to take a poll of the ratepayers on the proposal to borrow £4000 for the main road construction and £350 for the Kingsland-road deviation.

A walking contest between teams representing the employees of Messrs. G. and J. Court took place this afternoon. The race started from the Caledonian Hotel, Symonds street, at 2:30 o'clock, and the course is to St. Helier's Bay, via Khyber Pass and Renruera. The following are the teams: Geo. Court's Employees: Messrs. Wilson, Matthews, Owen, Bullen, Brooks, Ashley. John Court's Employees: Messrs. Youd, Davidson, K. Court, F. Graham, G. Stubbs, Cavanagh, A. H. Court.'

The Rev. G. Honnidz, of Persia, lectured to a fair audience last night on "Medical Missions in Persi,." in St. Matthew's schoolroom. Archdeacon Calder presided, and introduced the lecturer as a member of the ancient Nestorian'church which had survived the persecution of many generations of Hahommedanism. The Hey. Mr Gillam was also present. The lecturer dealt with the progress of Christianity in Persia, and urged the need for more medical centres among th» people.
