The climate, however, proved too much for him, and be died of fever during the hot season. _u,a brother officers erected a atone over his grave, concluding the usual Inscription with the line, "> T ot dead, but sleeueth." One of the men of the deceased officer's company, who had suffered a good deal from the effects of his bad temper, happened to notice jthls epitaph as he was walking round the cemetery, and supplemented it by the addition of the words, "And for Heaven's sake don't wake him."
