WAITEMATA COUNCIL.
The following additional business was transacted at yesterday's meeting:—
Bridge at Eiverheid.—Mr E. W. Alison, _-._-.1t., wrote acknowledging receipt ami approving of a petition from Rlverhead settlers asking i'or a Parliamentary vote for :i trallic biidge over the Waitemata at Riverhead.
I'r'vate Whan!.—Mr C. A. Wells v.rote applying for permission to erect a simiil wharf on tiie Wade River. The council approved, subject to the consent of the.Marine Department.
Troublesome C-umdi_gers.—Mr Walter B. Stoney, of Wade, wrote complaining that guinclfgpeis were making a right-of-way n ions' the Orowa River impassable. Mr Hatfield was asked to report on the matter.
Waiwera Wharf.—ln further discussion of this question it was pointed out that the delay in empowering the Waiwera Hotel Company to commence the collection of dues was a curse of- loss to the company, ft yms agreed that, if not contrary to law. the power to collect does be delegated to the company as from the first of this.month', and that early application be made for the necessary order-in-council. A sub-commit-tee was appointed to meet Mr Mowbray and confer with Messrs Russell and Campbell (solicitors to both the council'and the company) on the legal position.
