PONSONBY CRICKET CLUB.
A meeting of Ponsquby cricketers was held in All Saints' schoolroom last evening to form a fonsonby District Cricket L'luij, u::aer the new system, iv wniuh tile city ■iias been divided into districts. The Uev. in - snow presided, and Air 1. Chirk acted a:s secretary pro tern. The, Chairman said the advantages of the division of tlie city into districts were obvious. The curse of cricket m Auckland appeared to be tliat the clubs overlapped, and nieinbers had the option of joining either of several clubs. There was thus a loss of patriotism. Under the new system, instead of members flitting fiom club to club, they would remain with their district club and good esprit de corps would result. Mr Pluinmer moved, "That a Poubonoy District Cricket Club be formed." —Mr Walker seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. Mr ti. White asked what would become of the existing club and their gear. Mr Nolan said the existing club would cease to exist at the inception of the district club. Most of the members of the old club were present. Tho following officers were elected:— Patron, the Mayor (Hon. E. Mitchelson) , , president, Mr T. T. Minefield; vice-jt-esi-'leiits, Archdeacon CaUler, Uev. Mr Snow, Messrs Pair, Hutchison, and Court; the four Auckland numbers of Parliament (Messrs JBaume, YVitheford, Kidd, and Fowlds); Revs. T. F. Robertson and W. Heady, Mr J. W. Tibbs, Mr T. U. Wells, M. A.,. Messrs Stewart, Jas. Kirker, Thos. rencock, Dickinson, and Christ. The question of captainqies was discussed at some length, and it was poiated out that it was customary to elect a club captain at the general meeting , , but to defer the election of the team captains till the several teams were formed. It was finally agreed to defer the election of all the captains. Mr W. H. Hemmlngwny was elected secretary, and Mr Plummer treasurer. The management committee was /formed of the following :—Messrs M. Walker, P. White, Nolan, Cullerne, ,T. Gavin. It. Woods, and R. Sims; delegates. Messrs Walker, Plummer, and A. Kemp; auditor, Mr Langsford. Tho annual subscription fees wore fixed as follow:—Seniors, £1 l'\ first juniors, 15/; second juniors, 10/: third Juniors, 7/G; boys under IS years. 2/0; ana honorary members 30/6. Tt was decided to leave the question' of .cetting a practice ground to the committee.
