AUCKLAND SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS.

The annual meeting of the Auckland Society of Musicians took place in V.M.C.A. Rooms last night. Mr R. _Lesile Hunt was voted to the chair. The president (Dr. W. E. Thomas) notified his resignation from the position of president, aud at his own request became an ordinary member. The resignation was received with great regret by '.be members present. Mr Arthur Towsey was unanimously elected iv his stead, ana Mr \V. id. Webbe was chosen vice-president. Thanks were accorded Mr Arthur _ady for his past services as hon. treasurer, and be was also re-elected to that position. Tuanks were also given the hon. sec, Mr Eugene Hulse, for the energetic manner in which he had carried out the many duties attached to his office. He also was unanimously re-elected to the office. The ballot for the Councillors had the following result:--Misses Colegrove, Law, Stevenson, Hey wood, Bridget ater, Messrs Hunt, Kreutzer, Paquc. and Hodges. Thanks were accorded those ladies and gentlemen who had contributed papers and musical items at the monthly meetings, and also the president aud vice-president for their services during the year.

The Chairman mentioned the pleasure Mark Hambourg's recitals must have been to those musicians who had attended his concerts, and the beneiits derived therefrom would be long felt. Before the meeting closed it was decided that the Council remain behind and make the preliminary arrangements tor the fortncoming social evening, to dc held in the V.M.C.A. Rooms, for the purpose of inaugurating the new year. The first balancesheet which was presented to the meeting was very satisfactory.
