TRAGEDY AT CLEVEDON.

A tragic accident happened on Sutnrdaw afternoon at Otau, Wairoa South, when Charles Murtagh, aged 11, was accidentally killed. Deceased and his brother Joseph were pigeon shooting, and a cartridge missed fire. It was not removed from the gun, and it exploded unexpectedly through hhe butt striking the ground. Charles Murtagh happe'i?d to be standing in front of the gun. and received the charge in the back of his head, death being instantaneous. Great sympathy is-felt for tho bereaved parents. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, when an inquest was, also held before Mr McLennan.

A verdict of "Accidentally shot" was returned.
