The Thames No. 3 Company purpose visiting the Corornaudel Kifles at uu early date to try conclusions with the local men at football and shooting. The Coromitndel men are already iv training, and good contests in both events are looked forward to. 'Mr D V. Allen, A.0.5.M.. director of tae Coromandel School of Mines, delivered a lecture on "Diamonds" in the ieeturc ball of the school last evening. There was a splendid attendance, and tlie lecture was voted highly instructive and interesting. The lecturer was enabled to illustrate h!e lecture by means of a collection of facsimiles of famous diamonds fo'iml. kindly lent for the occasion by CaptsKii Francis Hodge from his unique collect I -:- of mineral specimens.
