DEATH OF DEAN ROLLAND.
REEFTON Monday
Dean Holland died to-day at the Roman Catholic Presbytery, after five months' illness, aged US. He came to the colony 37 years ago, first living in Hawke's Bay and Taranaki. In ISOo he was appointed a chaplain to the forces operating under General_ Chute, against tlie Maoris. He was present at a number of engagements, and played a prominent part during the retreat from Ngutu o te Manu, where .Yon Tempsky fell. His career is reviewed in Gudgeon's "Heroes of New Zealand."
