On Saturday a little child aged three years, whose parents are Mr and Mrs Wylie, of Northcote, met with a rather singular accident. It was playing with a fork M-hen it suddenly drove the prongs through the sole of one of its feet. Dr. Carolan was sent for and speedily attended to the little sufferer. At the 1.0. G.T., Hope of Birkdale, held on Saturday evening, resolutions were passed congratulating King Mahuta on having signed the pledge, and Mr Ell. M.H.R., on his bill to abolish barmaids.
