MASONIC.
The largest gatheiing of Masons ever held in Hamilton took place at the Masonic Hall on Friday on the occasion of Bro. J. S. Colhoun being installed as "W.M. of Lodge Beta-Waikato, No. 12. There was a large attendance of the members of the Lodge, and visitors were present from Alpha No. 81, Waipa No. 118, Te Aroha No. 52, and Taupiri No. 110, and many of the Auckland and more distant Lodges, there being over 80 brethren, Including 25 P.M.'s, in the Lodge. R. Wor Bro. A. G. Bartlett, D.G.M., conducted the ceremony In a very impressive manner. The working tools were presented by Wor. Bro. EL P. Edgecumbe, W.M. Lodge Waipa, 3rd degree; Wor. Bro. M. Roberts, W.M. Lodge Alpha, 2nd degree; and Wor. Bro. J. Rowe, W.M. Lodge Te Aroha, Ist degree. Wor. Bio. F. W. Browning, P.M., addressed the W.M.; Wor. Bro. S. D. Hanna, P.S.G.W., the Wardens; and E. Wor. Installing Master the brethren. The other officers invested were as follow:—l.P.M., Wor. Bro. J. E. Hammond; D.M., Wor. Bro. G. Edccumbe, P.M. (re-elected); S.W., Bro. 1 , . B. Stevens; J.W., Bro. A. J. Smith; treasurer, Wor. Bro. C. J. W. Barton, I.M. (re-elected): secretary, Wor. Bro. R. J. Gwynne, P.M. (re-elected); D. of C, Wor. Bro. W. Dey. P.M. (re-elected); organist, Bro. G. F. E. Edgecumbe (re-elect-od); S.D., Bro. H. E. Tristram; J.D., Bro. H. Coop; 1.G., Bro. E. J. Roche; S.S., Bro. C. F. E. Barton; J.S., Bro. D. Lusby; tyler, Bro. G. G. Wilson (re-elected). The service throughout was choral, the hymns being especially well rendered The collection on behalf of the Widows' and Orphans' Fund amounted to £5 6/9 The installation was celebrated by a ball, held in the Volunteer Hall in the evening. There was a record attendance, and all the visitors appeared to enjoy themselves.
