PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.
, The Piako County Council met at Morrinsville on Wednesday. It was resolved that the special resolution declaring ragwort to be a noxious weed be confirmed at next meeting. A meeting of the ratepayers of the Patetere Riding was arranged for Saturday, July 11th, to decide re closing roads round the Putaruru railway station. Slaughter licenses were granted to Messrs Seelly, Waharoa; Marshall, Morrinsville; and Rose, Tirau. The Council decided to endeavour to purchase an acre of ground adjoining the Tirau railway station for the erection of a storehouse. The Chairman gave notice to move at next meeting to strike a 3d general rate, and Id separate rate in the ridings of Patetiri, Te Aroha, and Taotaoroa. The Chairman pointed out that Cr. McCaw's application that the general rate should be diminished in Matamata could not be entertained In view of the increased valuation it was resolved to diminish the special rates at next meeting. Cr. McCaw gave notice to move at next meeting that the Council take over the Te Aroha-Lichfield road, in the Okauia block, as a county road. Repairs to the Waitoa-Morrinsville road were authorised to be done as soon as the weather improves.
