TABLE TENNIS.
The inter-club matches are now in full swing, and some very close contests may, be expected, as the players this year are more 'equal than last. There are seveil clubs entered for these matches, viz., Auckland, Grafton, Parnell, Remuera, Hauraki, Ponsonby and West End.
Parnell play Grafton at the latter , * hall on Monday next at 8 p.m. The following players will represent the Graftofl Club: Miss C. Scherff, Miss C. Sloman, Miss Muriel Dawson, and Miss B/Smitn, and Messrs. P. A. Dawson, Hill (2), and P. D. Scherff.
Parnell play Grafton at the hall next Wednesday evening, and a goM match may be expected. There are thirteen clubs affiliated W the Auckland Table Tennis Association, with a membership of about 1000. The country clubs are especially keen on tne game this year, and are looking forwara to a visit from an Auckland representative team later in the season. _ • The new bounce serve, which has been adopted by tfca London Association, ana now by the local association, is beco«»J ing very popular as it becomes bet known. It is a much fairer serve tna" the old one, and does away with stooping down, and also makes the umpire ■ duties much lighter. , ~ rf There is some talk of the association holding an open handicap tournament ■* an early date. If this is done exoeuew entries should be secured.
