CONCERT AT DEVONPORT.

A concert took place last evening m aid of the funds of the Devonport Congregational Sunday School. The church was packed to its utmost capacity. The concert was under the direction of Mr. J, Bowden, and the items were principally given by athoir of children, all of whom were dressed in white, with a blue or scarlet sash, and carried corresponding flags of the same colour. Each child also carried a fine bouquet, with scarlet and white ribbon, The items selected were taken from -Choral Praise," and the-children sang from memory. The flags and bouquets were alternately used, and the spectacular effect was most pleasing. Miss Harvey and Mr Harvey sang a couple 'of songs, and some ladies of the Mandolin Club rendered two fine selections. Miss Bowden presided at the piano, and Miss Proctor at the organ, Mr. Bowden is to be congratulated ou the success obtained, for his training of the young people was very marked in all their acts.
