The election for Mayor, provided a most exciting contest, the two candidates, .Mr William Corns and Mr Harry, Weaver, each polling 238 votes. ' The returning officer gave Jlis casting vote to the sitting member, Mr W. Corns. following Councillors were elected:—North Ward: Messrs. J. S. Dent, T. MeCliiiton, T. H. Steadman. Central Ward:'; S. Rawnsley, J. W. McGregor, E... A. Hutchings. " South Ward: J. It. Reyburn, E. Leon, A McLean. .
