ONE TREE HILL.

At the meeting of tlie One Tree Hill Road iioum last night, Mr 11. B. Morton presided. Also present: Messrs George Burton, It. Hall, W. Wall, and tlie Hon. LL de 8., Devereux. \

It was decided to place a lamp.at tlie corner of Market and Ranfravly roads, and another at the corner of Williamson-street and Great South-road. A committee was appointed to see that the sanitary bye-law.6 were carried out. Tlie• road from the Harp of Erin Hotel to the lioyal Oak, Cainpbeliroad, was named Campbell-road, aud that' leading- to Ivlurket-road from ilanukau-road was altered from Brown-street to lianfurlyfoad. The treasurer had received j≤soo ou account of the £1500 loan for re-making iianukau-road, and was directed to secure another £500 on account. Upon receiving an application for the board's conti'ibut'on of £287 6/1) towards tlie Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, the following resolution was adopted: ••That this board views with alarm the enormous increase of the levy on its funds made by the Hospital and 'Charitable Aid Board, and is emphatically of opinion that there is no legitimate reason for an expenditure on hospital purposes, which has been doubled within the last two years, aud now threatens to paralyse the legitimate work of local bodies; and that a copy of this resolution be sent to the other contributing local bodies with a view to united action to curb this growing expenditure." The payment of the remaining half of the board's ■contribution of £91 12/ towards the infectious 'diseases' hospital was deferred until the necessary funds were in hand. A deputation from the board, together with members of the Epsom Road Board had, it was reported, waited upon Mr Hansen, the tramway manager, to obtain reductions in the fares between Epsom aud Newmarket. as more was being charged than wlieu the horse trams were running, but , they were unable to obtain all the concessions required.
