At the Police Court on Saturday, before Mr Bush, S.M., the. case of Ed. Bain y. Victor Dett and Robt. Majurey, on a charge of wilfully destroying a heifer on the 29th March, was heard. Mr Moresby appeared for informant, and Mr Porritt for the ac* cused. After hearing the evidence, Mr Bush, at the request of the accuseds-solicit-or, dealt with the case summarily. Accused then admitted having killed the animal, but not wilfully. His Worship administered a severe caution, pointing out they were liable to four years' imprisonment, but on account of their youth and the punishment in such cases, usually falling ou the parents, he would deal leniently, auft" would defer passing sentence until the 7th May. If the accused in the meantime paid the -valoe of the heifer, and' £12: 3/6, the costs of the prosecution, he would inflict a fine in lieu of imprisonment. He also cautioned all the witnesses who had bee v n out shooting with the boys, pointing out that it was a very serious offence to shoot even. birds out of season. \
