WELLINGTON, this day.
Mr John Benchamp, aged 43, licensee of the Tramway Hotel, died somewhat suddenly last might. It is supposed worry over an alleged breach of the Licensing Act accelerated his death.

The' Rev. James Patterson, for over thirty years in charge of St. John's Presbyterian Church in Wellington, has announced his intention of resigning, and it is believed the position will be offered to the Rev. Dr. James Gibb, of the First Church, Dunedin. - ■ r
