From an even start Putty and Bacchus were' the first to show In i'ppnt, and going out of the straight the old grey had a load from Putty and Tupara, the rest of the tield strung out. At the 7-furlong post Bacchus was two lengthy to the good of Putty and Queen'B Guard, with Tupara and Paul Seaton next. Past tho cutting Tupara moved up to the leader, wiio was ueiag ridden. Putty lying a. length away, Idas and Matamataharakeke next. Tupara was hi advance when the home turn was entered, bat when the stands were reached Putty came with a strong run and beat off Idas, who also finished well, by three-quarters of a length, Bacchus a length off third, with Tupara fourth. Time, 2.43. Dividends, £2 5/6 and £1 10/. Kiimo was the first to show in front of (he field, Lady Rose, Rose Shield, Agrapus and Tho Middy following. At the live furlong post Kamo was a length ahead of Lady Rose, The Middy and Agrapus next, the rest being well together. Round the bend and into the straight Kamo held his lead, and without being ridden won by a couple of lengths from Ropa, who, followed by Metodcon, came through the field at the stand, but could not catch the leader, 1 Melo- | (Icon linishing a length behind Ropa, Rose Shield fourth. Rose' Shield and Kamo were bracketed on the machine. Time. 1.175. Dividends, £1 3/G aud £2 1/. Scotty was the first to break the line, followed by Landlock and St. Olga. Landlock led Oingo and Golden Rose to the turn, St. Olga running into second place. Along the back to the turn for home the same positions were maintained, Rosella and Wairiki lying si*th and seventh. In the. straight Golden Rose came along in live style and soon had' a commanding lead, winning by two leugths from Jewellery, who came from tiie back with a nice run and finished well, beating Landlock easily for second place. Scotty was fomth, St. Olga Hfth. Time. 1.41. Dividends. £(i 0/6 and £8 11/6. The time constitutes a record for this race. HURDLE HANDICAP. Mr G. V. Donnelly's Awahuri, 10.7 .... 1 Mr ]{. Hannon's Bellman, 10.7 2 Mr L. Harris' Cavaliero, 12.0 3 Royal Conqueror and Battleaxe were scratched. Won by five lengths. Time, ;j.SU. Dividend, £5 17/.
