FITZGERALD'S CIRCUS.
The above combination will open at Freeman s Bay on Saturday next, March .-«, for a season of seven nights and two matinees, Wednesday and Saturday, after an absence of two years, during which time they have been touring the whole of the Australian Commonwealth. Since their last visit here they have added to their vast show many new artistes, the latest attractions from all parts of the globe novelties, sensations, and brilliant items are introduced that have lifted the arenlc specialties to the highest standard. Tbe Messrs Fitzgerald Bros, recently concluded a successful season in Melbourne extending over three months, playing in their specially-erected permanent buildings over Princes Bridge, which has a capacity of ■holding 8000 persons, and has been nightly filled, and at times to its utmost Among the new Items are the cycle whizz, an extremely novel device, which has created a great sensation throughout Australia. The construction is one of the most novel sensations ever introduced, and one which is sure, to attract large audiences In New Zealand as in the colonies of the Commonwealth. The act is performed by the four Melbourne's, who mount their bicycles, ride from the ground on to a teacup track at an angle of 60deg, and 80 laps to the mile, they manoeuvre through different antics, racing, trick riding, passing, re-pass-ing, carrying with the greatest of ease, and is described by the press and public as being a most extraordinary feat. The new addition to the arena of a settetto of beautiful black Hungarian horses who go through evolutions equal to (rained soldiers are spoken of as being superb, and In the capable hands of Mr Dan Fitzgerald can be looked forward to with interest. Hadji Tabar, the Arab Wonder, a most marvellous contortionist; Madame Amelia, ariel wonder on the trapeze and swinging rope; the Leons, four in number, the world's tumblers, riders, acrobats, etc., doing sensational tumbling, can only be compared to pieces of machinery. The Delavales (lady and gentleman), extraordinary trick cyclists, who have already established a name throughout the world; the Tylers, In their marvellous risley acts; an entirely new performance to Anckland audiences, Master Bertie, on a swinging trapeze, revolving from his perch, suspended only by the. feet. The South African war episode, introducing the war horse, St. Just—this is one of the finest trained horses ever known. The smallest horse in the world. The new dummy, West, an exceptionally funny fellow, who will find a warm spot in the hearts of young and old, and many other items of interest. The animal acts, from Carl Hagenbach's Zoological Circus, will he to the fore, under the trainership of Herr Zaph, who has always made himself popular with his numerous sensational acts, which arc of the most finished character, and well executed.
