A false alarm of fire was given in Devonport last evening by a man driving in a trap. The brigade was immediately alarmed, and proceeded in the direction indicated by the man, who quickly disappeared. The brigade failed to find a fire, and came to the conclusion that they bad been hoaxed. The Devonport Council is now seeking information which shall lead to the discovery of the man who gave the alarm, as they are determined to make an example of him. The turn-out of the brigade costs the Council £1 12/6.
