AUCKLAND SKETCHES,
j Mr Menzies Gibb, the well-known J Christ church artist, has jutt. .completed a sketching tour of the Auckland district, and some of his pictures, which are -now on view here, have attracted considerable attention. CUSTOMHOUSE CHANCES. Several changes are now being effectied in the staff of the Customs Department. Mr W. G. Grant, shipping clerk at Auckland, is promoted to the landing staff. Mr W. J. Stevenson, of the Wellington staff, transfers to Auckland, and Mr H. H. Price, of Auckland, goes to Napier. THE MINISTER FOR LANDS. If circumstances permit the Minister '< for Lands will accompany the. Premier !on his visit to Auckland shortly, as he is anxious that the vexed question of the erection of a sterilsation plant shall he settled once and for all, so that an early start may be made with the work. Another matter that might possibly engage Mr Duncan's attention in your city is the selection of a .permanent site for abattoirs.
