The Piako County Council (met at Morrinsvllle on Friday.
An account for £8 17/9 for revising the valuation was passed for payment.
The caretaker of the Waiorongomai tramway reported that from December 19 to January 15 he had run down 50 truck? of quartz and four trucks of timber. Tne wages for that period amounted to £12 16/. The council decided to expend the £150 grant in repairs to the tramway. Mr Alfred Smith, of Thames, notified that during the month of December he had purchased 19430z of gold. On the suggestion of the foreman it was resolved to carry out sundry work a.t Manawaru and also beyond Motumaoho. Gravelling at Stoney Creek, repairs to culverts and bridges throughout ■the district were also authorised. The attention of the foreman was called to the, growth of Canadian thistle, furze and other noxious weeds throughout the county, the council expressing the opinion that the Government Inspector of Weeds might profitably employ a couple of weeks in the county with advantage to all concerned.
