AUCKLAND FARMERS , ' CO-OPERA- , TIVE SOCIETY, LTD.
The quarterly meeting of above society took place in the Gladstone Coffee Palace yesterday. In the absence of Capt. Makgill, Mr A. Morrison, of Awhitu, was voted to the chair. Mr Sam A\ Browne acted as secretary. The report; and balancesheet were read. The balarfce sheet showed that trade had nearly doubled over the last quarter, and was not only well sustained, but increasing. A large order for butter was revived from the British Wholesale Co-operative Societies, but owing to being late .in ordering, enough coiild not be secured, Efforts were being made to secure agencies In. country districts to accommodate farmers. In regard to fruit, the prospects were good, and it only required fiearty co-operation of fruitgrowers to do a great amount oi' good. The secretary's report showed that shares were being- freely taken in the country districts, and the number of shareholders was now nearly one thousand.
