SAD BOATING FATALITY.
A boating fatality, which involved loss of the lives of William Parsons, aged 26, a publican, and Alexander M'Gorm, aged 22, occurred on the Port Adelaide River at 4 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, December 28. Parsons and M'Gorm, with two other young men, Roderick Grant and Ernest Abemethy, went down the harbour in a boat about sixteen feet long. A strong south-west wind was blowing, and suddenly when they were on the return journey the craft capsized. Neither Grant nor Abernethy are able to account for the mishap. M'Gorm was at the tiller, and it is -presumed that the boat broached-to before he could give her the helm. Grant and Abernethy, when they rose to the surface of the water, looked for M'Gorm and Parsons. As they could see neither of them they swam ashore. Shortly afterwards a passing fisherman picked up the body cf a Parsons, and unavailing attempts were made to restore animation. M'Gorm was a good swimmer, and was regarded as one of the best boatmen on the Port Adelaide River.
