SINGULAR FATALITY.
DUNEDIN, Saturday.
James Mcßride, a labourer, of Cay« ersham, was taken to- the hospital, where he died. The inquiry touching his death has been adjourned, pending a post-mortem. Deceased, who was 53 years old, stated, w-hen found lying at the back of a stable, that his son-in-law. Thomas .Hroofield, had knocked him about, and his daughter, Mrs Broofield, prodded him in the stomach with a crutch. This statement was afterwards repeated in Broofield's presence, the latter remarking that he had never touched deceased.
