FATAL STABBING CASE.
A CHINAMAN KILLED
TWO OTHERS INJURED.
PERTH, December 23>
A serious affray, attended with fatal consequences, occurred this afternoon. A Malay named Ballantyhe, a ticket-of-leave man, fell foul of several Chinese residing in King-street. The supposed trouble originated through gambling. Shortly before five o'clock crowds of people noticeda man running towards King-street. The reason was soon apparent. A Chinese named Ah Ling was* found by the police on his verandah stretched on his back. • His intestines were protruding from a gash across the stomach. Another Chinese, Ah Took, was gashed about the hand, his right thumb being nearly severed. Took was also stabbed in the back. A third man, Ah Hop, was stabbed, but bis injuries are not considered serious. '.'•"..-..
Ballantyne, who is alleged to be responsible" for the stabbing of the Celestials, ran alon_ Murray-street into a drapery store, followed by- a crowd of Chinese. With composure he' asked to be shown some articles of apparel, but he was immediately challeged by a detective at the point of a revolver. When called upon to put his hands up Ballantyne submitted, and the detective secured a sharp knife from the man's hip pocket. When arrested accused said, "Me killeau . Chinamen and me no care. I no care you hang me." Ah Ling died this evening.
