RIFLE CLUB'S SHOOTING MATCH.
WELLINGTON, Saturday.
The Defence Rifle Club's shooting meeting, at Trentliam, was concluded on Saturday. G. Hawthorne, of Karori, won the gold medal and £2, for the highest aggregate, J. McHattie and R. King, both of Opaki, being second and third, respectively. R. King, Opaki, won the Woodville match; F. Baigent, Upper Hutt, won the Petone match; A. France, Karori, the Karori match; and G. Hawthorne, the President's match.
At a meeting or riflemen held at the Trentham range, objection was taken that In the programme for the New Zealand Rifle Association's meeting the events for rifle clubs were too few in number, and strong complaint was made regarding the proposed limitation of the teams' match to volunteers. It was decided to send a deputation on the subject to the Minister for Defence.
