PALMESRSTON N., Saturday. The weather was fine for the second day of the Manawatu Racing Club's meeting. The amount put through the totalisator was £9428. Following are the I_L_G_* rGSU-1 -S I"~~ Hack Flying.— Rawiri, 1; Ellbank, 2; Bounce, 3. Scratched: Ballarat. Won easily by a length. Time, 1.21. Dividend, £3 12/- Rawiri and Elibank were coupled on the totalisator.
I Handicap Hurdles.—"Waiwera, 1; Roer, 2; 1 Kohunui, 3. "Won fairly easily. Time, 3.25. Dividend, £2 16/. President's Handicap.—Convoy, 1; Hinetaura, 2; Ghoorka, 3. All started. Won easily by two lengths. Time, 2.16 1-5. Dividends, £3 6/ and £2 8/. Second Hack Hurdles.—Awahuri 1, Beau Ideal 2, Waitohi 3. Also started: Flanagan, Moleskin, Forest Gate, Royal Heath. Won easily. Time, 2.59. Dividends, £5 3/ and £1 14/. Juvenile Stakes.—Auratus 1, Gold Dust 2, Gold Crown 3. Also started: Secret Society. Won by a couple of lengths. Time, L 5 2-5. Dividend, £10 18/. Christmas Hack Handicap.--Comfort 1, Otaio 2, Dick Turpi'n 3. Also started: Lissa, Ballarat, Position, Baldie. Won by a head. Time, 2.6. Dividends, £2 13/ and £2 2/. Farewell Handicap.—Queen's Guard 1, Ballyneety 2, Marianthus 3. Also started: Convoy, Lady Link. Won easily. Dividend, £3 17/. A protest against Queen's Guard for Inconsistent running was dismissed. The stewards held an inquiry into the running of Ostiak in the Summer Handicap, and after examining Messrs Gordon, Monk, Prosser, and Jenkins, decided to take no action.
