FATAL ACCIDENTS ON THE CARS.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —Your correspondent of last Saturday, who subscribed himself "•Parent," does not, by the tone of his letter, fulfil the role at all worthily. Hiding behind a norn de plume, as this individual is, leads one to conclude there is something doubtful about him—the signature surely must be the outcome of a delusion. In drawing a comparison between the barring up of tram windows and making the sale of razors prohibitive with a view of preserving life, he cannot be serious; but apart from the weakness of argument shown by your correspondent, I repeat it is unworthy any "Parent," or any one else, at the present juncture to thus have written casting a reflection on the care of, or the paternal love for, the child whose sad death occurred on Christmas day. On the contrary, hearty sympathy is extended to the parents by the majority of your readers. Had anything been brought out in evidence at the inquest savouring of carelessness, due importance would have been attached to it by the coroner and jury, who, in their wisdom, recommended the placing of protection bars across car windows in order to prevent the recurrence of any similar accident, a recommendation it is to be hoped that the maanger, with his usual promptitude, will give «effect to in the interests of the travelling public—l am, etc., J. MURPHY.
