THE CAMPBELL VASE FOR CADETS.
The cadets of the Auckland schools competed at the Mt. Eden Range on Saturday for Sir J. L. Campbells silver vase, under the supervision of Major Morrow V.D., Col. White, Capt. BiggWither, and Lieut. Stuckey. The competing teams in the morning consisted of ten men each from the Grammar School, King's College, and St. John s Collegiate School, and 20 rounds were allowed with one sighter 'to each competitor. The results placed the teams In the following order:—lst, Grammar School (coached by Lieut. Cox, Victoria Rifles); 2nd, King's College (Lieut. Hazard, Field Battery of Artillery); 3rd, St. Johns (Lieut. Ewan, Ponsonby Navals). The highest score was compiled by Col.-Sergt. Todd of King's College, who obtained SS pqints out of a possible 100, including 10 bull's-eyes. In the afternoon the Eden Cadets fired, and got into second place, coming 46 points short of the Grammar School* score. The Grammar. School therefore wins the vase. The medal tot the highest individual score goes to Col.Sergt. Todd (King' 3 College), and the challenge cup and medal for the highest score in "the Grammar School team goes to Private M. Corbett, with 84 points. The scores were as follows: — Grammar S«ivooJ.—Private Corbett, 84; Corporal Baskett, 80; Bugler Mahoney, 77; Serg&ant Joyce, 77; Private McClure, 76; Sergeant Zim in, 72; Corporal Scott, 70; Sergeant Dempsey, 70; Private Jefferson, 68; Private Finlay, 67. Total, 741. Eden Cadets.—Sergeant Teutenberg, 79; Private White, 78; Colour-Sergeant Shepherd, 75; Sergeant Honeycombe, 72; Private Dillon, 72; Sergeant Harvie, 70; Sergeant Urquhart, 70; Corporal Lampriere, 68; Corporal Moore, 61; Private Hinton, 50. Total, 695.
King's College.—Colour-Sergeant Todd, 87 (winner of medal for highest score in competition); Private Chatfield, 82; Sergeant Reid, 80; Private Holbecke, 74; Private Turner, 72; Corporal Bars tow, 67; Private Williamson, 64; Private Swarbrick, 56; Sergeant Dickison, 49; Private Rose, 41. Total, 672. St. John's.—Corporal Smallfield, 79; Corporal Brabant, 77; Private Jackman, 71; Private Harding, 68; Private Foster, .65; Private Ferguson, 63; Private Winstone, 47; Sergeant Hunt, 46; Private Hooker, 45; Private Ellis, 25.
