CHRISTCHURCH NOTES.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
CHRITCHURGH, this day. THE CANTERBURY SHOW.
Stirred by the competition ocf the Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association has issued an unusually attractive programme for its November show. The sum distributed in special prizes has 'been increased from £200 to £400. One of the most important is the Deans Memorial Prize of ten g-uineas for the Champion Shorthorn Bull. A new prize is offered for the best milking cow, to be judged on appearance apart from the Babcook test. The prizes in the riding and driving competition have been enlarged by the addition of a class for ladies only, and another for the best girl and boy riders. To the military sports has been added a Victoria Cross race, and the prizes for the Lloyd-Lind-say competition have been largely increased. Another valuable feature of the programme is the judging competition for young farmers. They will be asked to judge a pen of sheep, a shorthorn bull, and a draught horse, and a committee of judges Avill then decide whose judging is the best. The prizes for dairy produce have been considerably increased with a view of encouraging the factories to send exhibits, and liberal prizes are offered for the products of small farms. ,'i
