ADELAIDE, October 12.
SYDNEY, October 12
A strong southerly gale, with torrential rain/prevailed all day, and had not abated to-night. Heavy seas are reported on the coast, and shipping is sheltering. Five inches of rain hare fallen in Sydney since last night. At Tinonee the fail was at the rate of Bin aja hour. Spjne of, the lc>w-lying- suburbs suffered considerably from flood waters.. So far the rains hay« only be#n coastal. :

The, flqod .waters have done considerable damage to property. Some houses are flooded.
The train traffic is much impeded MELBOURNE, this day.
The wreck of the mission fishingboat has been found. There is no trace of the bodies of the crew.
The best rains recorded for months are falling1 in the driest districts, the fjil .ranging from three-quarters of an inch to ' a-quarter. In the more favoured districts the rain will ensure a fair harvest, while in the drier portions, where farmers are faced with ruin, it will at least produce seed.
