Vice-Admiral Fanshawe's Jftagship tor the Australian station will be tlhe •first-class cruiser Spartiate.
The "Times" says it has been considered heretofore desirable that the inaval commander-in-chief should rank next the Governor of the colony. The higher status of the Governorgeneral of the Commonwealth is therefore sufficient to explain" the ohoiee of a vice-admiral to command the Australian Squadron.'
