SCHOOL TEACHERS' EXAMINATIONS.
WELLINGTON, this day.
Regulations for the examination and classifying of teachers have been forwarded to the Education Boards. The cei-tificates to be granted shall be of three classes, to be determined by efficiency in teaching and school management, with certain limitations with regard to experience. Thus, no certificate shall be granted to a candidate who has not had two years' experience as a normal student or as a regularly appointed teacher. Inspectors shall indicate their judgment as to a teacher's practical skill by assigning- marks for efficiency, to be added to the marks for service, the total of these to determine the class of the teacher. The divisions of the certificates are to be known from the highest downward, at A, B, and C, which classes will indicate the degrees of attainment and mental training. The examination for C will be based on the primary school syllabus, but more difficult; for B it will be about the standard of the Senior Civil Service; for A it will be based on the examinaiton for pass degrees at the New Zealand University, plus other subjects.
