A FASTING MAN'S FEAT.
"While a fasting man, who. was.supposed to have eaten nothing for a fortnight, was lying in a glass coffin in a show lithe Boulevarde Clichy, Paris,,, on FridayAugust 29, one of the spectators commenced to chaff him, and to express doubts as to the genuine character of the fast He inquired what the faster had had to eat the previous day, and how he liked his food cooked, mentioning-at the same time several appetising dishes, as most suitable for a man to keep up his strength' on, w ether he pretended to fast or uot, and at last told him that he looked altogether too plump and healthy to have gone one day without food, let alone a fortnight. This so incensed the exhibit that he threw off a lid of the coffin, jumped out, and gave his tormentor a most energetic correction, notwithstanding the tetter's struggles. The spectators took the doubter's side, and were thrashing the fasting man when the police arrived and cleared the premises.
