RUSSIAN NIHILISTS.
REVOLUTTONART ATTEMPT ON PRINCE OBOLENSKT.
There readied Vienna on Monday, 25th August, the text of the report issued by the Russian Revol_"tiona_y party concerning the attempt to murder Prince Obolensky, Governor of Kharkov. The report shows that the Revolutionaries have connections everywhere and amongst all grades' of society. It contains an abstract of the remarks made by the prisoner in the course of his examination in private. The assault is declared to be tho result of a verdict pronounced by the Voyevaya Organizagya, or Fighting Organisation. It is further stated that the attempt failed, as the assailant feared to hit a lady who was standing close to Prince Obo-lensky. At the second shot this lady seized the would-be assassin's arm and held him fast. On one side of the revolver was engraved, "Por the blood of peasants shed," and on the other, "Death to the Imperial hangman and enemy of the people." When arrested the would-be murderer said, "Mark this, sirs so will our party deal with the enemies of our folk."
The report also contains the text of the verdict ag-ainst the Governor of Kharkov, and refers to 'the attitude assumed by Prince Obolensky during the peasant riots. It continues: "Deprived of the possibility under existing circumstances of bringing Obolensky before a court of justice for his crime., and deeply indignant at the provocation of Nicholas 11., who sent his thanks to Obolensky for his work of butchery, the members of the Voyevaya Organiz&gya consider it necessary to fulfil their duty as citizens and remove from office Prince Obolensky. who is protected by the Czar, bytheonly remaining means-^ea-li. The aceomitfishZZt of this sentence Is laid upon tM member, of the organisation."
