He afterwards complain 6* that, although he had some kno^ ta ledge of their native language, hP could not understand anything that his guides'had said to him. "Yon should have hired yotinge* men," Mr Clemens told him. "Tkes. toothless old fellows talk only ff«S| Arabic."
