Two 'buses were travelling dowa Regent-street in close proximity th« other day when the conductor of the foremost one took off his badge and dangled it in the air, to the obvioM annoyance of the rival driver. "What did you do that for?" asked a passenger. "Why," said the conductor, pointing a derisive thumb at the infuriated driver, '"is father was !ungln Pleasant badinage.
"You say you want a tragedy itt which the star dies before the last act?" , "That's what I want," answered Mr. Stormington Barnes. " It's _ao_§ likely to make money for me." "I have not observed that si»& plays are especially popular." "Perhaps not. But they 'give tit* star a chance to get round to the box-office and. watch the treaearea count up."
