TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL,
The fortnightly meeting of the Trades and Labour Council was held in the Tailoresses' Hall, Cook-street, last evening, Mr H. L. Horning presiding. A communlcatiion was received from the Thames Miners' Union forwarding the names of the delegates to the council from the union. Delegates were appointed to attend a meeting to be held next week, in connection with the Cost'ey Home, the delegates being instructed to urge that an impartial Government inquiry be held regarding tbe conduct of the home. The executive committee of the Labour Day demonstration, and all concerned in carrying out the carnival, especially those employers who closed their premises on Lanour Day. It was decided .to recommend that the annual conference of the Trades Councils of the colony be held in Wellington in future, during the session of Parliament.
