THE TRANSVAAL NATIVES.
LONDON, October 10.
Sir Godfrey Lagden, Commissioner of Native Affairs in the Transvaal, has met with striking success as regards the new regulations for the natives. Drunkenness at the mines has been reduced to a minimum, and the native savings bank and remittance agency is greatly appreciated. Twelve thousand stand of arms in the various districts have been surrendered, and the hut tax, which is due next January, has not produced a murmur of disapproval.
