LABOUR TROUBLES.
THE AMERICAN STRIKE
MINE-OWNERS AND THE MEN.
(Received 9.13 a.m.)
NEW YORK, October 10
Mitchell, the miners' representative, declares that tbe people of America have next word in the dispute, and the side they condemn must yield. He believes they will decide in favour of the miners. He has informed President Roosevelt that the responsibility for the continuance of the strike rests, with the mine-owners, who are refusing arbitration.
Mitchell emphasises the absence of any law enforcing the findings that may be preferred by the proposed Commission on the coal owners.
The latter declare that they " will resist Mitchell to the bitter end.
